Doll Face vs Peke Face Persian: What's the Difference?
If you’ve started shopping for a Persian kitten, you’ve probably seen the terms doll face and peke face — and wondered what the difference actually is.
The short version
A Doll Face Persian is the traditional, classic Persian: a fuller coat, sweet expression, and a slightly longer nose set at a healthier angle. A peke-face Persian is the modern, ultra-flat show type bred for the extreme look that wins ribbons.
Why the face shape matters
The flat peke-face structure often comes with real, lifelong health costs:
- Breathing difficulty — compressed nasal passages restrict airflow.
- Chronic tear staining and blocked tear ducts.
- Dental crowding from the shortened jaw.
- Higher grooming demands around the face.
Doll-face Persians keep the classic beauty while avoiding most of these problems. Better airflow, fewer tear-duct issues, healthier jaw alignment, and more comfortable day-to-day living.
What we breed
At Royal Persian Cats we specialize in classic doll-face Persians — companion cats bred for health and temperament, not show extremes. Every breeding cat is DNA-tested for PKD and HCM, and every kitten is temperament-matched to its family.
